Woman strangled and robbed in Seletar West

A WOMAN who was out feeding stray cats on Wednesday night was strangled and beaten until she passed out.

Madam Annie Lee, 52, was feeding some cats on a deserted stretch along Seletar West Farmway 4 at about 11.30pm when she noticed a man approaching her from behind.

Before she could react, he punched her in the head and grabbed her by the neck. He then shouted 'diam' (Malay for quiet) at her, before punching her repeatedly in the face until she lost consciousness.

Two passersby found Madam Lee about an hour later and called police.

The handbag she was carrying was found five metres away, with its contents, including a small amount of cash, strewn on the ground. Only a handphone, of unknown value, was missing.
Madam Lee regained consciousness as the paramedics tended to her, and was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

As a result of her head injuries, she was unable to remember where she worked or lived.
She could only recall that her attacker had a tanned complexion.

Police spokesman Victor Keong advised people not to walk in dark or isolated areas.

Anyone with information can call the police hotline on 1800-255-0000.

yes she has. we just visited her. news report was not quite accurate. she was NOT attacked at the spot where she was feeding. she was actually walking back home, out along the main road past the big field to the flats beyond. either the man had been tailing her from farmway 4 or he was loitering at the field behind the excavators. annie says he looked like an indonesian worker. there are many many foreign workers (indian, thai, indonesian) staying at the workers' dormitory now. unsafe for anyone to be there alone at night.
